HARTFORD, Ala. (WTVY) - The Geneva County Bulldogs have big plans for the 2020 season. After just missing out on the playoffs last season, the goal is to be back in 2020.

Head coach Jim Bob Striplin knows in order to accomplish their goals, the defense has to play better this season. Geneva County surrendered over 30 points in eight games last season with teams scoring over 50 points in four of those affairs.

The buzz in Hartford is around running back Emmanuel Henderson who is one of the top players in the nation, but it’s his ability to improve his teammates that has Striplin excited for the season.

“We have guys taking pictures with him because they know what kind of ceiling he has moving forward the next few years,” said Striplin. “I’m really proud of him. He’s going to live up to his reputation physically, but what he’s doing is something a coach dreams of. He’s making everyone around him better. He’s ensured our attendance over the summer is at a really high level. Not only is he a great athlete, but his leadership ability is as good as I’ve had as a head coach and I’m really proud of him.”

Geneva County opens the 2020 season against Wicksburg.
