OZARK, Ala. (WTVY) - As you walked through the doors of the Ozark Civic Center you used to see blank walls.

Now you will see pictures of nine of Ozark’s greatest.

“I think it was time that we honored some of those people that just worked hard to make this city what it is today,” said Mayor Bob Bunting.

Each individual nominated by their loved ones and chosen by the anonymous seven.

However they could not just be anyone.

“They had to be deceased had to be a resident of Ozark for at least ten years of course they had to make a huge contribution and had to be spelled out by the person doing the nomination and one of those eight categories,” Bunting said.

Those categories ranging from agriculture—education to military.

The Ozark Civic Giants wall will not stop at these nine legends.

“We’re going to do this every other year and all of these walls that you see coming in the civic center will be pictures of men and women who made a major contribution in developing this city,” said Bunting.

These walls allow for the history of Ozark to carry on.
