4WARN: Tropical Update
DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Tropical Storm Isaias is now reaching the Caribbean islands. Excessive rainfall and winds close to 60 mph can be expected as the storm travels to the northwest.
As the week goes on, Isaias well start to creep along the east coast. With the eastern Florida coastline expecting a landfall by Saturday. It is very possible that Isaias will reach hurricane strength once it approaches the southern Florida. Impacts are not to be expected in the Wiregrass as the atmosphere will steer the storm well to our east.
We continue to see activity in the Atlantic. Another tropical wave has formed off the western African coast. With a 50% chance of development over the next 2 days, this will be our next system to keep an eye on. Still far away but with the paths the past few waves have taken, it is likely that this will be our next tropical disturbance.
