DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) --

The Alabama Alcoholic Control Board has voted to end alcohol sales at bars, country clubs and restaurants between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The decision was made in effort to stop the transmission of COVID-19.

Banana's Karaoke Bar in Enterprise is one bar affected by the decision.

The bar is usually open from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

On-premise consumption is to end by 11:30.

They are looking to open earlier to offset some of the hours they will be losing.

Banana's will be talking with employees tonight about further plans.

"We're disappointed that we have to relay to our employees that their hours are going to be reduced after they just recovered from being shut down for two months," said Owner of Bananas Karaoke Theresa Travare.

The emergency rule is effective immediately, but will not be enforced until Saturday, August 1 beginning at 11 p.m.
