Houston County sees largest daily increase of COVID-19 cases to date

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Houston County had 65 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. That’s according to the Alabama Department of Public Health who released updated numbers this morning.

That’s a new record for Wiregrass Counties. Houston and Dale counties previously had recorded 61 cases in one day.

Dale County recorded that number on Saturday. On Sunday they had just four cases. Today they are reporting 29 new cases.

Dale County also saw their number of deaths increase by one to 17. On Friday they reported eight deaths in one day.

Coffee County added 11 cases today.

Covington County is reporting eight new cases and one new death.

Pike County added seven new cases, Henry County added 10 new cases and Geneva County added six new cases.

Statewide there were 1,778 cases in the last 24 hours. There were also 18 new deaths bringing the overall total to 1,446.
