Former Troy baseball coach Bobby Pierce joining Chipola baseball staff
CHIPOLA, Fla. (WTVY) - Bobby Pierce is returning to where his coaching career began.
Pierce has been hired as an assistant coach at Chipola College where he served as head coach from 1982-1989.
During his seven seasons with the Indians, Pierce saw tons of success winning four Panhandle Conference Championships. He earned five berths in the Florida State Junior College tournament and won the state championship in his first season.
Pierce put together a 259-95 record during his time at Chipola.
Pierce would spend five years as an assistant coach at Alabama before being named the first head coach at the University of Alabama-Huntsville in 1995. In his seven seasons, UAH would go 276-108 and would capture the 2001 Gulf South Conference title.
He was named the head coach at Troy University heading into the 2003 season.
Pierce would spend 13 seasons at the helm of the Trojans winning two Sun Belt Conference titles and taking the team to four NCAA Regionals before stepping down at the end of the 2015 season.
