With runoff elections ending last night, we now focus our attention to mayoral races.

Coffee County Republican Women hosted a forum for Mayor Bill Cooper, candidate Bill Baker, Candidate Lister Reeves and Enterprise Council President Perry Vickers.

The room was full of people ready to hear questions yielded to Mayor Cooper and the candidates looking to be elected as Enterprise's next mayor.

The questions varied and touched on topics such as the economy, COVID-19 and peaceful protest.

Mayor Bill Cooper is seeking re-election with his first term coming to an end.

“Enterprise is the City of Progress,” said Mayor Cooper. “I have worked hard with the team in trying to make sure that everything is carried out and again as I say to you that my experience speaks for itself.”

You will see another familiar face among elected enterprise officials.

"I am very proud to say that in the past 3 1/2 years the Enterprise City Council has accomplished most of what I said we needed 3 1/2 years ago," said Council President Perry Vickers.

The race does have some outsiders, Bill Baker being one of them.

He is retired from the Army with 20+ years.

“I’ve got a global business network,” said Candidate Baker. “What does that really mean global business network Bill? That means I have relationships that I can bring to the state of Alabama. I have relationships that we bring to Enterprise, Alabama.”

Lister Reeves is another candidate looking to win votes. Reeves is the owner of RBI Properties in Enterprise.

"I've run a business for over 35 years so I know what it takes to run a business, I know what it takes to keep the doors open and I know what it takes to run a budget, set a budget and I know how to adhere to that budget so I do have those kinds of experiences," said Candidate Reeves.

Just a reminder for Enterprise residents that the voting pools will take place at the Enterprise Recreation Center instead of your regular polling place.

The election will be held on Tuesday, August 25.
