LaBrian Stewart named new Abbeville football coach; Deveridge hired to lead boys basektball program

ABBEVILLE, Ala. (WTVY) - After the departure of Robin Tyra, the Abbeville Yellow Jackets have been in search of the program’s next head coach.

Former Northview football coach LaBrian Stewart was approved as the Yellow Jackets’ new head football coach at Henry County board meeting on Monday.

Stewart has been out of the varsity coaching game for the last few years spending the last three seasons at Beverlye Middle School and Dothan Preparatory Academy. Before that, Stewart spent five seasons leading the Northvew football program.

During his five seasons with the Cougars, Stewart put together a 16-35 record and a trip to the playoffs in 2015.

Former Eufaula girls basketball coach Jonathan Deveridge was hired to lead the Yellow Jackets’ boys basketball program.

Deveridge spent five seasons at Eufaula from 2012-2017. He has spent the last two seasons as the girls basketball coach at Zion Chapel.
