DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -

The Empty Bowls Dothan Project needs your help in fighting hunger in the Wiregrass.

Organizers are looking for volunteers to help make clay bowls. Those bowls will be sold at a future event at the Cultural Arts Center- with all money raised going to the Wiregrass Area Food Bank.

The goal is to make 400 bowls. Potter Lynn Koning says they’re behind schedule due to Covid-19.

“They’re fired in a kelm. And they’re food safe, you can eat out of them. We sell them in February and we sell them for $10 each. For ten bucks, you get a bowl, a hand-made bowl... and a meal,” Koning said.

Volunteers are needed for the following bowl-making dates:

Tuesday, February 21 from 6pm-7:30pm

Tuesday, August 11 from 6pm-7:30pm

Tuesday, September 15 from 6pm-7:30pm.

You do not have to be an expert to help out. The Empty Bowls event is scheduled for February 20-21.
