Salvation Army Offering Transportation Relief To Those Affected by Coronavirus
DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -
The Salvation Army has a new program available to help aid those affected by coronavirus.
It’s called the Wheels To Work voucher program. It’s a partnership between the Salvation Army, The Wiregrass Transit Authority and Porters Service Station. The funding- provided through the Central Alabama Community Fund-- provides bus and gas vouchers for people who have been furloughed, laid off, or had to take time off to care for a sick loved one or children.
An official letter or other documentation is needed in order to receive the transportation funds.
“It‘s very important. We want to allow them an opportunity to get back into the work force, and also the more people that are back in the work force, the better the economy will become because people are out there working. And so we just want to be able to help with that,” Dothan Salvation Army Corps Officer Captain Deanne Jones said.
The funds are available until July 31st. For more information, you can call the Salvation Army of Dothan at 334-792-1911.
