Cultural Arts Center Receives Grant for Virtual Arts Studio
DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -
Some much-needed funding is helping the Cultural Arts Center reach students in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The center was awarded a $2,500 grant from the Alabama State Arts Council. The funding is being used to create a virtual arts studio. The technology will allow arts educators and artists to virtually teach students this fall.
“The fun thing is that we can have teachers that are not physically in my building- they can teach things we want them to teach from where they live or at home and stuff. Or from wherever their studio is, and then they can provide art to the students too,” Director of the Cultural Arts Center Ann Cotton said.
The technology includes a webcam, lights, microphones, and a t.v. Cotton says the grant came at just the right time, after she learned two of the schools where classes are taught aren’t allowing visitors this fall.
