BELLWOOD, Ala. (WTVY) --

ALDOT has reconstructed the intersection of State Routes 167 and 85.

The projected started June 15th.

They still have to lay the permanent striping down and a few traffic signs need to be posted.

The intersection has a history of traffic accidents.

They have already realigned the approaches heading north and south on SR-85.

"This project is going to improve that sight distance and it's going to be more of a 90° angle when you are approaching 167 from 85, so by improving sight distance you will be able to better determine when you can turn and when you can cross the road," said ALDOT Southeast Region Public Information Specialist Brantley Kirk.

The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-July.

Kirk also wants to remind drivers to be cautious of any crews at any construction zone.
