Victim identified in Geneva County Murder
BELLWOOD, Ala. (WTVY) - Authorities have identified the woman killed in Geneva County Monday night and revealed her connection to the shooter.
The victim is 40-year-old Danah Hudson Johnson.
Johnson had ongoing issues with the shooter Andrea Wambles, including an assault charge prior to the shooting.
At 7:40 PM Monday night Geneva County deputies were dispatched to a report of a woman lying in the road at Craven St. in Bellwood.
Johnson had gunshot wounds to her upper torso; EMS performed CPR but were unable to revive Johnson. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Around 9 PM Wambles was taken into custody. Shortly after investigators found her vehicle and a pistol hidden in a wooden area.
Wambles has been charged with murder.
Investigators believe the shooting happened after threats were made earlier that day.
“Ms. Wambles did give a statement, that statement did lead us to believe that she did commit the murder. This goes back to a situation that happened over a year ago and there had been prior charges in which Ms. Wambles had been charged with assault on Ms. Johnson,” Geneva County Sheriff, Tony Helms said.
Wambles and Johnson had a history with each other, both were involved with the same person.
Andrea Wambles is currently being held in the Geneva County Jail.
