...Snow to develop over parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley on Friday...

A clipper system will move quickly across the Great Lakes to the Northeast then out over the Western Atlantic by Friday. The system will produce lake enhanced/lake effect snow over the Great Lakes through Thursday evening, with the snow moving into the Northeast by Friday morning.

In the wake of the storm, lake effect snow will develop downwind from the Great Lakes on Friday.

Meanwhile, upper-level energy moving onshore over the Pacific Northwest will move southward to Southern California by Friday evening. The energy will trigger coastal rain and snow at the higher elevations Thursday into Friday morning. Onshore flow will produce scattered areas of lower elevation rain and higher elevation snow over the Cascades by Friday evening.

Another area of upper-level energy over Southern California will move
eastward to the Southern Plains by Friday evening. The storm will produce rain with embedded thunderstorms over parts of the Southern Rockies/Southwest on Thursday, with an area of snow over parts of the Southern Rockies Thursday evening.

As the system moves out of the Southern Rockies, moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will move northward over the Southern/Central Plains into the Lower/Middle Mississippi Valley Thursday night into Friday.

Rain will develop over the Southern High Plains, late Thursday night, expanding into Southern Plains on Friday morning, moving into the Lower/Middle Mississippi Valley by Friday evening. Snow will develop over parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley into the Western Ohio Valley by Friday evening.

Elsewhere, an old boundary will aid in produce scattered showers and thunderstorms over the Southern tip of Florida through Friday.
