There are mixed emotions when it comes to the President's announcement.
Some say it's past time for u-s troops to come home, while others say Afghanistan is not ready to be on its own.
President Obama said he plans on reducing the number of troops in Afghanistan to close to 10, 000 by the end of this year.
He says it will decrease to 5,000 by 2015 and be down to normal presence by 2016.
Ultimately, that means troops will get to come home.
"If we don't pull out they'll never get ready. You get them to a point, then they have to handle their own affairs, if you don't ever give them the opportunity, then most countries never will, " said retired Army, James Ivery.
