Nearly 22 veterans take their own lives every day.
Couple that with the billions of dollars in unmet needs of the men and women who serve our country.
All numbers a local organization, wants to go away.
The "America's Heroes First Foundation" is an organization aimed at helping veterans and their families.
The first meeting was today at the WTVY building.
It's the first of its kind in Alabama.
The organization wants to start the nation's first ever payroll deduction program.
It will provide funds to other charities that support veterans.
"You know if only ten percent of the U.S. working force were to donate two dollars per pay check that's over a billion dollars. And that could go a long ways helping a lot of people," says Fred Haston, ambassador of the AHFF.
If you or your company wants to participate in this cause, all you have to do is log onto AHFF.org
