DOTHAN, AL -- Santiago Alonso has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after being convicted of multiple charges in a Dothan courtroom. The defense has already filed notice of appeal.

Alonso has received 40 years in prison for human trafficking, along with $2,000 in fines and $1,000 for victim's compensation.

He also faces 10 years in prison on drug charges, along with $2,000 in fines and $1,000 for victim's compensation. The human trafficking and drug charges don't have to run concurrently.

Alonso was arrested in August of 2013. Police say he kidnapped a 17-year-old girl in Mississippi and forced her to do drugs and engage in prostitution.
