I'm lucky I get to use television to inform our viewers about the weather and to be part of a brand new NBC affiliate WRGX TV—NBC for the Wiregrass.
I grew up in Plant City, Florida, near Tampa, the lightning capital of the world. My career path was pretty clear..as a little guy I imitated all the meteorologist I saw on TV. I attended Florida State University and received my B.S. in Meteorology in 2006. My first job was a huge change of scenery, working for KEYC the CBS affiliate in Mankato, Minnesota. I got a little bit of everything there, severe weather, ice storms, beautiful summer days, but mostly snow and cold...lots of snow and cold. After three years, I went back to Tallahassee and the CBS affiliate there, WCTV. I had a great time in the Capital City, but after two and a half years, I feel the Wiregrass is a great place to continue my career.
I'm not JUST a weather geek, sports is my other passion. I'm a Seminole to my core, and rally behind them no matter what sport. I love baseball, football, basketball, hockey and if you can play it with a ball or a stick I'll probably enjoy watching or playing. I've also been told I know too many useless facts, so I guess I'm a trivia buff too.
I love hearing from everyone, whether it's to say hi, or if you have great weather pictures or stories to share. You can send me an e-mail, find me on Facebook (Nate Hopkins Harrington) or on Twitter (@NateHHarrington). I'm here to serve you, and I look forward to every night I get to do it!
