Washington County Residents are Urged to Evacuate

Although it's not mandatory, the Washington County Emergency Management is urging Chipley and nearby residents to evacuate. About an inch of rain is expected, but on top of the heavy rain earlier in the week, it sparks a flooding concern.

The biggest areas officials say are concerned with is Wages Pond Road, Little Wages Road, River Lake Drive, and the unpaved portion of Deadening Road. The overflowing of the Choctawhatchee River is a major concern in these areas.

Sunny Hills Community Center is taking in evacuees and they encourage residents to bring any essential personal items with them.
The address is 4083 Challenger Blvd in Chipley.
