Chinese business leaders, alongside Dothan City Officials, reached out to the community Tuesday night, for a Town Hall Meeting. The international company, Sozo Group, wants to invest in our community, and create more jobs. Tuesday's meeting energized community members to host the first U.S-China Manufacturing Symposium.

“We'll be able to showcase the Wiregrass. This is not just about Dothan, but the wiregrass, to an international community,” said Mayor Mike Schmitz of Dothan.

Raymond Cheng, CEO of Sozo Group, explained the economic impact will go beyond the Wiregrass.

“What you do in Dothan will have so much impact, not only in the Wiregrass community. What you do in Dothan will have significant impact from here to Washington,” said Cheng.

Their goal is to bridge the gap between the United States and China, and they encouraged community members to volunteer at the symposium.

Cheng also explained why Dothan caught their eye over other cities.

“Clean air, clean water, good food, and accessibility are also something. You have an airport. All of that is a plus,” he said.

However, it’s more than business. Dothan’s southern hospitality hit home.

“All businessmen are people. So what they care most about is, if I moved to invest here, I will bring my family here,” said Min Xiong, Communications Director at Sozo Group.

And we had them at hello.

“Of course while we were over there, we invited them to come to Dothan, being a good southerner. And their coming,” smiled Schmitz.

The Chinese Symposium is a two-day event. It will be November 11th and 12th at the Dothan Civic Center. Volunteers are needed.
