PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Next year, residents and visitors in Panama City Beach will start getting a unique birds-eye view of the area.
City inspectors say permits for a sky wheel were approved in Pier Park.
Crews from GAC Contractors will build it between JcPenney and Dave and Busters, which will replace Pier Park Amusements.
The groundbreaking for the project will start next week.
Officials first tossed around the idea of building a 180-foot high wheel in 2015, which is about the height of an 18-story condo.
The sky wheel is expected to be ready to ride in the spring.
