Atlantic Ocean (WTVY) -- Two years ago today, a powerful tropical system reached its strongest point.

Hurricane Joaquin reached winds of 155 miles per hour on September 3rd, 2015.

This was after making two separate landfalls on The Bahamas.

The storm produced an estimated 200 million dollars of damage there, and forced evacuations.

The cargo ship El Faro was lost near the storm.

Joaquin also kicked up some very heavy waves across the northeast U.S. from Virginia to New Jersey.
