DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) — For the 20th year, Turkeys from Heaven is delivering a hot Christmas dinner to families in need this holiday season. But they still need your help.
The group is looking for turkeys and cash. They also need volunteers to help cook and deliver the meals.
They've partnered with Publix and you can donate over the phone or at any checkout line in any Publix in Dothan. They will meet at the Houston County Farm Center on December 22nd to grill the turkeys and at the The Wiregrass Museum of Art, located on Museum Ave. directly behind The Dothan Civic Center, on the 23rd to make green bean casseroles, pack rolls and cranberry sauce and deliver Christmas meals.
Co-founder Rebecca Marsella says they are trying to feed over 2,600 families this Christmas. Right now, they only have about 500 turkeys.
She said "I think it's showing people in our community who are in need that there's someone who's caring about them and thinking about them. So yes, it's wonderful to have your traditional turkey dinner, but I think it says alot more to people. It gives people hope that there are other people out there who want to help them."
The deadline to donate is December 20th. The meals will be delivered n the 23rd.
If you would like to volunteer, you can reach out to them via Facebook, or show up at the Wiregrass Museum of Art on the 23rd.
To make a monetary donation, please make the check to Turkeys from Heaven and mail to 1604 Tacoma Street, Dothan, AL 36303.
Please contact Rebecca Marsella 797-9376 or email@example.com if you are interested in helping or have any names of people who could benefit from the meals. If you would like to work, we will begin cooking at 7a.m. and the deliveries will begin about 12 noon. There will be a volunteer tent where you can check in and get direction.
