Tornado touched down in Holmes county, leaving extreme damage

BONIFAY, Ala. (WTVY) - After a weekend of dreary weather, thunderstorms and tornado warnings, one tornado touched down in Holmes County.

The Holmes County Emergency Management Agency(E.M.A.) responded throughout the day to reports of storm and tornado damage to property's, and even people.

The tornado was spotted touching down around 3:15 a.m. at the intersection of 177A and Parker Road in Bonifay, causing extreme damages to one woman's home and completely destroying the barn next door.

E.M.A crews spent the day clearing loads of storm debris from homes, road and property, hoping they would find that no one was hurt or injured.

"Yeah we responded today from a tornado touch down in Holmes County.. you can see the debris fill.. uh we have responders come out to come clear the road.. we had to bring some heavy equipment to move it.. you can tell from the debris fill, it was pretty bad." -- GARY EVERETT, HOLMES COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY
