Dothan (WTVY)-- A Geneva High School student was arrested Wednesday for making threats against the school on social media.
“We put all schools in the city on soft lockdown as a precautionary measure but nobody was in danger,” Geneva Police Chief Tony Clemmons said. The lockdown was in effect only a few minutes.
Clemmons said the student was taken to the Southeast Alabama Diversion Center where he will be held pending further action. Other arrests were not immediately ruled out.
Helms didn’t specify the nature of the threats.
Superintendent Rhonda Stringham thanked police and others who assisted in the situation.
