(AL.com) — The board that oversees Alabama's judicial retirement system today approved the annual retirement allowance for former state Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore, who retired in May.
Moore's annual pension is $135,845. The Employees' Retirement System Board of Control approved Moore's pension and those of three other former judges without any discussion.
Moore retired from the court to run for the U.S. Senate. His retirement came after the Alabama Court of the Judiciary suspended him without pay for the remainder of his term because of his administrative order telling probate judges to continue to enforce Alabama's same-sex marriage ban after the U.S. Supreme Court effectively legalized gay marriage.
