DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) — Many businesses in Downtown Dothan are closed and gearing up for Small Business Saturday tomorrow. Owners encourage you to shop at locally owned business and support your community and friends.

However one store was open in the downtown area while the owner was preparing for the crowd tomorrow.

Owner Terri Fortner says Odonata was the exception.

"I was closed on Wednesday and Thursday and decided to be open today and tomorrow in preparation for tomorrow so I thought we could get a head start on getting some more merchandise out. This will be my first Small Business Saturday as an owner."

Fortner says she's hopeful about the turnout.

She’s optimistic people will choose to spend their dollars in the community instead of at chain stores. The downtown business district will be open from 10 am to 5pm Saturday.
