Dothan, AL (WTVY)- A Dothan man, 37-year old Scotty Lingo, is accused of impersonating a peace officer after he allegedly used invalid police identification.

“(Lingo)once was an auxiliary officer in Headland but let go in January 2015,” Dothan Police Investigator James Harvey said. When Lingo encountered a Dothan officer he was carrying a concealed pistol without a permit and showed his invalid auxiliary identification trying to escape arrest.

Law enforcement officers are not required to have concealed carry permits.

Lingo, as of late Thursday night, was in the Houston County Jail under $15,000 bond.
