(NBC News Channel) - New research suggests dogs aren't just man's best friend, these furry pals could help you live longer!
Scientists in Sweden followed more than 3 million adults for 12 years.
They found dog owners had a lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease or other causes.
Dog ownership was especially beneficial for people living alone.
They were a third less likely to die during the study period than single people without dogs.
The reasons for this link are not clear, but experts say dog owners do tend to be more active.
