MARIANNA, Fla. (WTVY) — People are starting to head home from shelters but some are still waiting, to make sure it's safe.
Around 500 people found shelter at Marianna High School this weekend.
There were about 150 people left there earlier Monday.
13-year-old Ami Paridise who lives in town says her family decided to go to the high school because it is safer than their mobile home.
"We were just going to stay here just in case cause there is a lot of trees around our house. So just to be safe better be safe than sorry."
Marianna High School will close as a shelter around 12:30 Tuesday after serving breakfast.
