ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WTVY) -- Some Enterprise students are a little bit wealthier thanks to the owner of two local grocery stores.

Piggly Wiggly owner, Magnesh Patel, presented four students: James Blount, Christy McClendon, Diamond Williams, and Charity Colquett-Sharpe with scholarships, worth more than $600.

Patel says Women Who Care Director, Harolyn Benjamin was part of the inspiration for creating the awards.

"Being an educated person, I realized that education is important. And I always wanted to help someone trying to study, and we always want to help somebody... any contribution we do make, I'm happy with that," Patel says.

Patel says the scholarships are funded from sales at the two Enterprise Piggly Wiggly stores.
