PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG) - According to tourist development officials, two new hotels, a SkyWheel and a sports park are up-and-coming in Panama City Beach.

A SpringHill Suites by Marriott is set to be built on the beach near the County Pier. A TownePlace Suites Hotel is planned in the area of Pier Park. Plus, the new sports park and a SkyWheel are soon to be open for business.

Officials say all are made to accommodate visitors and locals.

"These amenities and these activities are not only just for our visitors, but for our families that are coming from in town so we are trying to make the best destination for both residents and visitors to come and visit," Visit Panama City Beach Public Relations Manager Catie Feeney said.

Officials say these new developments come after a record-breaking year, with bed tax collections up more than 13 percent.
