Governor Ivey cuts the ribbon at G-TECH

GENEVA, Ala. (WTVY) — Alabama governor Kay Ivey cut the ribbon Tuesday at the Geneva Regional Career Technical Center (G-TECH).

Alabama governor Kay Ivey cut the ribbon Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the Geneva Regional Career Technical Center (G-TECH).

Opened last month, G-TECH offers technical courses to high school students and they can take duel enrollment classes offered by local community colleges.

G-TECH is a partnership between Geneva City and County Schools and the Alabama National Guard.

Governor Ivey says, "Partnerships. Y'all let that sink in, there is no limit to what we can do when we work together and don't care who gets the credit. And there is no doubt that we have challenges in our state but a good paying job for our men and women goes a long way to solving those problems."

A couple of years ago the armory that now houses G-TECH was going to close but State Representative Donnie Chesteen worked it out to make it a multi-use building.

There are 104 students currently enrolled.
