The Storm Prediction Center had placed much of Illinois, Indiana and parts of Ohio and Michigan under a high risk of severe weather that day.
Tornadoes damaged homes and businesses, downed power lines, and toppled trees.
There were 81 separate reports of possible tornadoes and-or funnel clouds, and hundred more straight-line wind damage reports.
