Forever Wild Sign Destroyed

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- Who knew how much a map could cost the community to rebuild?

For Dothan’s Leisure Department, it's an expense they didn't want.

The first thing you do when visiting a new park is look for a map of the trail but unfortunately the people running east trail head don't have option anymore.

Courtney runs this trail every week and decided to bring her boyfriend here for the first time but it looked different this time when she visited.

One couple walking the trail says "we were just riding our bikes on the east side and we see what happened and it honestly shocked me that someone could do that to such a nice facility and things that the community around here work so hard to preserve and keep so yeah for me it was shocking.

Many members of the community are still confused and looking for answers.

The Director of Leisure Services did not want on go on camera but did tell WTVY he was hurt and devastated at the property being destroyed on East Trail End. He says that it would cost about $10,000 to repair those damages.

The Department of Leisure Services is currently working to get to the bottom of this.

We don't know when the sign will be fixed but we'll let you know when we find out.
