PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG) -- This holiday season the Florida Highway Patrol is focusing on preventing impaired driving and making sure drivers arrive alive as a part of its Safe Holiday Travel campaign.

FHP reports that last holiday season, there were almost 200 drug or alcohol-related crashes resulting in 36 fatalities.

Florida Highway Patrol has partnered with multiple agencies to educate motorists on the dangers of driving under the influence.

They also have a few strategies to make sure your holiday travels are safe.

Drive sober and only sober. Adults 21 and older should celebrate responsibly and have a ride home planned.

Observe and obey all posted speed limits. Be mindful of construction zones and other areas where speed limits might change.

Finally, buckle up and focus on driving. FHP said that drivers should have their hands on the wheel, eyes on the road, and their mind on driving.
