DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) — A Dothan man accused of murder is representing himself in court this week.

Andrea Flagg is on trial for the 2015 murder of 33-year old James Gilliard.

Police say Gilliard was shot in the back and his body was left lying at the intersection of Wheat and Whiddon Streets in Dothan.

Flagg chose to act as his own attorney during the trial.

Tuesday afternoon he asked Houston County Circuit Judge Larry Anderson to dismiss the murder charge.

Flagg claims prosecutors failed to provide sufficient evidence of him being guilty.

Anderson declined.
