Fit for the Cure helping fund breast cancer research

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) — Women in the Wiregrass can step into a dressing room - and take a stride against breast cancer.

Research shows 8 out of 10 women are wearing the wrong size bra.

A properly fitted bra not only makes you look your best, but is also crucial to a woman's health.

As part of a breast cancer awareness initiative, Belk and Wacoal’s 2-day "Fit for the Cure" is offering complimentary bra fittings. All you have to do is visit Belk’s intimate apparel department and ask to be fitted with a Wacoal bra.

"To have a woman in the right-fit bra is great,” said Stephanie Hankins, Wacoal Sales Representative. “It just changes your entire world from the minute you put it on, so it's really exciting to be a part of that, and of course we're giving back to Susan G. Komen."

Each fitting is a $4 donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation – an organization dedicated to breast cancer research. Each Wacoal purchase is an additional $4 donation.

The fundraiser is near to Becky Trimble's heart.

"I'm a breast cancer survivor - three years,” said Trimble, a Belk Sales Associate. “So this is especially special for me. I want to find a cure and that's what this does."

“Fit for the Cure” is taking place Thursday and Friday at Belk in Dothan’s Wiregrass Commons Mall.

“Breast cancer has touched a lot of lives and we are here to help them,” said Donna Rook, a Belk Sales Associate.
