First Baptist Church Dothan helping Hurricane Harvey victims rebuild

DOTHAN, AL (WTVY) First Baptist Church Dothan is organizing a 4 day Hurricane Relief Trip to the Houston, Texas area September 21-24.

The plan is to drive from Dothan to Houston on Thursday, September 21, work all day Friday and Saturday, then drive from Houston to Dothan on Sunday, September 24.

They will be hanging and mudding sheetrock and replacing electrical outlets. They may also help clean out houses. Tools needed will be anything used for sheetrock hanging and mudding plus shovels, crowbars, work gloves, rakes, etc. C & D Construction in Daleville has volunteered to send ten of their contractors on the trip.

The group will be sleeping on the floor of a church in the area, so volunteers will need to bring a sleeping bag and/or cot plus towels.

The cost is $50 per person to help with fuel, plus your meals. The trip is open to anyone willing to journey the 700 miles over and back and help others. The group will be traveling by church bus.

“We don’t want to just limit it to church members to say they can go and show they care," said Bob Gross, Senior Adults/Missions Minister. "We’re opening it up to the whole community because some people may not attend a particular church, they may not attend this church, but they are welcome to go with us. We want people in the community to go and show their concern to fellow citizens in this country you know out in Texas.”
