Cheyanna Edmondson, 15, was diagnosed in 2016 with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a bone cancer that is prevalent in children and young adults.
“Cheyanna went to Wicksburg High School until her family, about two years ago, moved to Pennsylvania and then to Chattanooga where her father was reassigned with his job,” aunt Angie Edmondson Blessman told WTVY.
She and ten other teens suffering from illnesses were recently invited by Johnson, a former WWE superstar, to visit him on set In Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada during the filming of Skyscraper, an action thriller set for release in July 2018. However, her trip was canceled after tests last week showed the cancer—previously in remission—had returned.
Johnson wrote on his Instagram account, “Just wanted to shine some light on this incredibly strong and beautiful 15yr old girl, Cheyanna. She was supposed to be my special guest on the set of #skyscrapermovie for our big MAKE A WISH DAY in a few weeks with 10 other kids/teens and their families. Cheyanna’s cancer has relapsed and instead she’ll be going to St Jude’s Hospital in Memphis for treatment. Sending so much love, light, support, positive energy and strength her way. Im moved and humbled her wish was to meet me. She says if she had one super power, she would be Bat Girl. The irony is, Cheyanna’s already blessed with super powers.. and way more stronger than I’ll ever be. Stay strong Cheyanna and keep smiling. We’re all pulling for you! Love, DJ.”
Johnson also recorded a video message regarding Cheyanna saying he knows she is from Alabama and loves Waffle House.
“She’s very outgoing and speaks her mind,” Blessman appraised her niece saying Cheyenne put a sign on her hospital door reading “Happy Thoughts, No Tears."
Cheyanna is the daughter of Spud and Sherry Edmondson. She has a twin brother and an older brother and sister.
