Dothan (WTVY)-- Todd Wayne Fye, a Dothan photographer who pleaded guilty to 179 criminal charges of possessing child pornography, was sentenced Wednesday to 20 years in prison.

Todd Wayne Fye is lead from a courtroom by Houston County Sheriff's Sergeant Eric Paul in this November 29, 2017 photo.

Defense attorney Shaun McGhee sought to keep Fye out of prison. He cited the case of another attorney who, several years ago, received probation on similar charges.

“(Mr. Fye) has no prior criminal record other than a worthless check charge,” McGhee told Houston County Circuit Judge Henry D. (Butch) Binford.

While rejecting the probation request, Binford allowed the prison terms---20 years on each count---to be served simultaneously. Due to their nature, Fye won’t be allowed in the Community Corrections work release program.

Fye, 47, was owner of Fyetastic Studios when arrested January 9. Assistant District Attorney Seth Brooks said none of the illegal images found on a computer hard drive involved his photography clients or local children.

(Corrects earlier story to reflect prison sentence is 20 years.)
