Donations needed for homeless stand down in Dothan

DOTHAN, Al. (WTVY) The Southeast Alabama Coalition for the Homeless is taking donations for their fall homeless stand down.

They're trying to fill a truck up with jackets and sweaters.

Also needed are things like toothpaste, deodorant, and shampoo as well as non-perishable food items.

Donations can be dropped off at the 211 office at 545 Main Street in Dothan.

The stand down will be November 4th.

211 Executive Director David Duke says, “It is a wonderful way to make sure the community knows that we do have a lot of homeless people in the area that need help and give them the chance to donate, and the community has always rallied each time to be able to do this."

211 is looking for volunteers to sort through the items and take them out to the homeless.

If you want to volunteer just call 2-1-1.
