DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - It was purely a night to remember.
Dothan Downtown Countdown was a fun filled New Years Eve event held in the heart of Dothan.
Despite temperatures lowering to around 30 degrees plus rain and wind, the turnout was better than expected. Around 200 people came out with friends and family to being in the new year under the giant peanut.
In addition to a balloon drop for the children, there was live music, food, and hot beverages at Bird and Bean Coffee Shop.
Overall, the Dothan Redevelopment Authority was pleased with how the night turned out, however they do anticipate a few changes in the future.
"I do think it'd be a great idea to invite a few more vendors down.. I think bc next year new years eve wont be on a Sunday.. I do think itd be a little more easier to get merchants to stay open and kind of be a part of it. I'd really like it to just be another extension of foster fest."
