DALE COUNTY -- (WTVY) The Dale County School Board is suing the Alabama Department of Education, the Dale County Revenue Commissioner and 2 city school boards.
Officials filed the civil suit after they were directed to include Enterprise and Dothan City Boards of Education in their school tax distribution.
In a release, the board says: "The taxpayers of Dale County pay sales taxes and ad valorem taxes to benefit and support schools within Dale County, Alabama. Surrounding school districts with open enrollments should not benefit from the taxpayers of Dale County."
According to the release, the distribution scheme will cost Dale, Ozark and Daleville city school systems hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.
