DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - One of the goals of Foster Fest is bringing the city together. But, the Dothan Downtown Redevelopment Authority is working to get the county more involved.

Monday the Houston County Commission approved $25,000 for Foster Fest spending. The goal is to get people who live outside the Circle to come in for the celebration.

The money will also go toward hiring people within the county. Jessica Parker with the DDRA says they got half the funding they wanted, but hope to do more partnerships with the county in the future.

"We are excited to be able to take that money and be able to use it to hopefully market our Foster Fest event to the county. We want to bring all of the people in the rural areas and make sure they're coming out to Foster Fest."

Parker says they also plan to use some of that money for more entertainment.
