BLAKELY, GA, (WTVY) -- One in four people live below the poverty line in Blakely, and hundreds are listed as homeless.
That's why community leaders met to discuss what can be done to help curb the rising number of those with no place to call home, in Early County. Blakely Mayor Anthony Howard is anxious to find solutions.
He says "I think the next step, based on what we heard here today is to identify the exact problem, and talk to some of these people who are actually in this situation, and get their ideas on why they're there, and what they see could help them the most at this particular time."
City leaders also mentioned that halfway through the 2018 school year, nearly 70 children are listed as "homeless".
