Christmas came early for 30 Grandview Elementary School Students

Dothan, AL (WTVY) - Christmas came early for 30 elementary school students in the Wiregrass.
And the best part? Their gifts were a surprise.
These generous donations will help them ride into a Happy New Year.

85 Grandview Elementary School students walked into their cafeteria with no idea they might leave with brand new bikes.

Tamika Fleming who is Principal at Grandview Elementary says:
"This was a great event for our kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students that received an ‘A’ for the first semester in conduct, their names were entered into a drawing.

One by one, they came up front, and for 30 students...
Shaquille Jackson who is a second grade winner says:
"I felt like a volcano"
"Because I feel like I exploded, I felt so emotional."
Markayla Thomas, Second Grade winner was:
"Excited"
"Surprised"

And for Academy Sports and Outdoors, this was a way to reward good behavior...
Chris Young with Academy Sports and Outdoors says:
"It was very exciting for us to do this; this is actually our 16th annual kickoff for bike donations where all of our local stores participate in this...for a grand total of 5100 bikes given away companywide."
Fleming finishes with:
“We just appreciate academy for donating bikes and helmets to us for the third year in a row."

Jackson says:
"What I want to say to everyone in the whole wide world is thank you."
Jordan and Jaevan who are Kindergarten winners say:
"Thank you."
And…
"Merry Christmas."

Grandview Elementary is just one of 115 schools getting bikes from Academy Sports.
