OZARK, Ala. (WTVY) - A coach from the University of Houston is challenging school systems to donate t-shirts for Harvey victims.
Houston men's basketball coach Kelvin Sampson reached out on Twitter asking schools to send 20 school t-shirts and 10-pairs of shoes. Carroll High School in Ozark has accepted the challenge!
In just one day, the school has collected more than 200 shirts. After they posted the t-shirt drive on their Facebook page, a 1988 Carroll graduate reached out. She's now a teacher in Texas and has lost everything because of Harvey. So now, the school has another plan.
"Our plan now is to split the shirts, send some to the Houston basketball coach and some to our Carroll alumni,” said school counselor Heather Langford. “We think it will be great for our kids and great for her to show that her former school is now helping with her children today."
If you are interested in helping, you can drop off donations at the school until tomorrow during school hours.
