California customer says Walmart discriminated against her

PERRIS, Calif. (CBS News) -- Gloria Allred and an African American mother say she discriminated against on account of her race by Walmart in California.

Allred’s client went to a Walmart near her home to purchase a beauty product used by African Americans.

She was shocked to find that all hair and skin products used by African Americans were segregated and displayed behind locked glass that could only be opened by a Walmart employee, while beauty products for other races were easily available to customers and were not behind locked glass.

Also, the mother was required to be accompanied to the cash register by a Walmart employee and not permitted to touch the beauty product until she purchased it.
