COFFEE COUNTY, Ala. (WTVY) -- A Coffee County man has been arrested for allegedly torturing an infant.

Randal Silas was arrested January 25 on a charge of torture/willful abuse of a child. His bond was set at $15,000. Investigators say Silas was the baby’s mother’s boyfriend.

The Department of Human Resources and Coffee County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation in December after a 9-month-old baby was brought into a hospital unable to crawl, pull up, or do other normal activities for his age. X-rays showed the baby’s leg was broken.

The baby was taken to USA Children and Women’s Hospital in Mobile for treatment.
